For a site that currently has an Alexa traffic ranking of 5, this is pretty dumb. It’s almost as bad as the sporadic errors on myspace. Site maintenance? Really? At 10:45am on a Tuesday? Come’on.. give me a break. Facebook is one of the busiest sites on the net and you disable my account for “a few hours” in the middle of the day? I’d expect they would be able to release code with a “flip of the switch”. If not, I’d expect downtime to be scheduled and during times of minimal traffic.

This started for me last night. I am glad to know it’s not a virus or something destructive to my computer! I think it’s God’s way of telling me I’ve been wasting too much time on FB.
Mine has been down now for 3 days! If IT is doing their job - then they shouldn’t be in IT! It shouldn’t take 72 hours to complete this task!

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday for six hours and now it’s been a half an hour today, this is stupid. That it’s just a few people that are affected .. geesh if they are as big as everyone says .. set a time during off peak hours and do it so it affects all accounts not just a handful. Maybe if they fixed it all they wouldn’t have as many issues with the site.

I just got it, I think it does have to do with the Zynga games, perhaps farmville … too much friending and posting all at once, maybe they want to make sure you’re not a virus. I’ll wait … It’s probably better, less time wasting

do any of you remember the dates when you created your FB account?
if alot of user from the same year & month have issues … that means the server our accounts are created in is having issues… and report to FB.

Hi everybody,. I had read all of this threads a few minute after I got the problem of “account unavailable” I got that too,.
thanks for creating this thread,. it give me hope when I know many people had this too and some can fixed from that problem,. according to all I had read in this threads and many more,. its about 3-7 hours they get stuck from this trouble, even some there reach 3 weeks get frustrated. but it’s true I got just ”2 HOURS FIXED”,. thanks god I was scare back then,. in that time, I really do nothing just wait and not open my fb while read this thread. i don’t know why it can happen but I felt that God blessed me. very lucky.
I just have 207 friends and about 600 photos and just play happy aquarium,. I think it’s a bit activities,. I start thinking is that how much the file that you have influential to the speed of fixing progress?? I just guess

It was last saturday, when I logged in to facebook, I see that my account was unavailable, I was surprised to see that, I don’t know how long it will come back, but it says that it’s under maintenance, they’re like going to do something with it, well, I don’t don’t know it happened like that, but it’s just complicated.

I think a problem can be too much posting from Facebook Games.

If we are tens of hundreds to send this complaint they’ll probably will take care of our accounts.
Otherwise you will never access them.

I have had the message below up for several hours now. I think Facebook is determining whether or not someone’s report on me is legit or not. I have reason to believe that one or more of my daughter’s friends is behind this happening to me, because I was responsible for having them removed from her friends list, due to serious behavioral issues in the community, and then having them blocked from contacting her.
All one has to do is file a false report on someone via the link in the lower left of the target’s page, then voila, no access. Seems harsh to me. Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?

Ron, if that’s true, then I was randomly reported for no reason… and I have only a handful of friends. To top it off, they all actually like me. Meanwhile, my brother is logged in on the same network and is logged in just fine. They have several servers, so it could be that they’re doing maintenance per account server, so that some people can log in while others have to wait.
I think some of you are just spoiled brats who think life’s a vending machine. Sometimes I.T. needs to work, and when they do, they have to listen to you idiots constantly complain. Yes it’s irritating, but you know what? They get paid to make sure things run smoothly. Without them, you wouldn’t have said account that you’re complaining about. So grow a set and leave them alone.
Yes, Facebook IT is doing their job… EXTREMELY SLOWLY! Do you see Google, Yahoo!, or YouTube going down for “site maintenance” for this long?
Those sites do site maintenance just like Facebook, but at a fast pace and off peak hours to ensure minimal downtime. Facebook, on the other hand, spends forever. What could they be doing that possibly could take that long? Inserting new code should take less than 2 hours.
